Cigéo is France's deep geological repository project for radioactive waste. Communicating about this project is essential to inform and reassure local residents and elected officials. Opened in April 2024, the "Above and Below" exhibition offers an immersive and educational journey to understand the key issues: from waste production to its storage, including all stages of management and transportation.

With detailed models and dynamic animations, the exhibition reveals the architecture and operation of radioactive waste storage. Visitors explore surface facilities—the "above"—before descending into the underground galleries—the "below"—where the waste is stored permanently.

We chose to integrate graphic design into the exhibition’s scenography to create an immersive experience. Illustrated backdrops extend the models and simulate the environments of the Cigéo project. Graphics play an educational role, presenting numerical data as easy-to-understand visuals at a glance.
