Organized by the City of Paris at the Hôtel de Ville, the exhibition Paris! aims to review ten years of transformations in the capital. In an immersive and playful scenography by Pascal Rodriguez, visitors discover a portrait of the city in 2024, sharing anecdotes and telling stories of the major projects.
Visitors are welcomed by 12 vibrant portraits of Parisians, photographed by Margaret Bornhauser. The scenography includes a circular installation on cycling in the city and a life-size reconstruction of a street near schools. Guests can also relax on lounge chairs to watch a film that traces the journey of the Seine from its source to the sea.
The graphic design is based on two main approaches: enhancing the immersive experience with gigantic enlargements and showcasing the content through more than 50 panels combining texts, images, and graphics. To emphasize the activist nature of the various actions carried out in Paris' urban landscape over the past decade, the text panels are inspired by protest signs and slogans. About twenty maps of Paris, created with data from the Paris Urbanism Workshop, illustrate the many facets of this transformation.
Visitors are invited to leave a message for future generations, which will be kept until 2042 at the Carnavalet Museum, in anticipation of a new exhibition at the Théâtre de la Ville. The exhibition concludes with an installation co-designed with the scenographer, presenting the first names of children born in 2024, who will be 18 years old in 2042.
