The Monnaie de Paris offers a unique experience combining exhibition rooms and views of the workshops. Located in the heart of Paris, the world’s oldest operating institution continues the mission given to it by the King of France in 864: minting coins. As a privileged partner of the Olympic Games and the historic manufacturer of the medals, the Monnaie de Paris wanted a bold intervention on its façade during the Games.
Building on a collaboration that began in 2021, CL Design proposed to dress the 18th-century façade in a way that makes it stand out from neighboring institutions. We designed an imposing medal on the scale of the façade. This piece is created by applying copper-colored paint directly onto the stone, complemented by a mirror-polished copper sign. The agency is working on a permanent version of this installation, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
